Copyright and Deposit Website

An internet site (website, personal page, Blog, e-commerce, portal, web application…) is composed of several protectable elements::

- the name of your sight, registration of which makes you its owner

- the site’s logo

- its graphical aspects

- the conceptual structure and organization, which illustrates the development of concepts within your site’s pages

- the textual or visual aspect of each page, which is naturally a creation subject to copyright protection

- the databases (structuring your information system is the heart of your data process) which has valuable data from you or your users.

To protect one’s site and deposit it, website programmers or webmasters may prepare  their site through several methods:

- utilize software (such as FTP) to backup their site and store it in a compressed file

- deposit their databases (e.g., gzip export from MySQL Admin)

- take screenshots of their principal pages (using JPEG image format)

Once the site is prepared for deposit, they may make a copyright deposit on Copyright.in. To ensure protection, they should make a new deposit with each significant update of the site that they wish to be protected.

 A simple upload of files, within the site’s limits (i.e., less than 7 MB per file), allows one to save the data, date and time stamp it, to prove the creation of one’s copyrighted work.  Deposit allows you to easily protect your copyright and ensure your website is stored.  Do not forget to make a new deposit after each substantial addition of content.
